La Rinconada

The hot water was good and the location is convenient, but neither makes the price worthwhile. We paid Grand Hotel prices for a very basic room, despite booking a superior one. The listing looked nothing like what we found, and I can't understand the positive reviews. It feels 'superior' only in price, not in quality or amenities. The room smelled and wasn't clean. Even after two days of housekeeping, there were crumbs from the previous guest under the desk. There was no kitchen or even a fridge, no veranda, no complimentary water, and no internet. The bed had a wooden frame that stuck out too far, so we kept banging our toes on it. The pillows and mattress were hard, and there was no way to switch off the light from bed. The bedside lamps were broken. We got only a thin blanket and sheets instead of a down duvet. The shampoo came in a tiny single-use packet that was impossible to open, and it wasn't replaced the next day. The old grey towels had holes, there was no hair dryer, and the water pressure was barely there.

The pool was pleasant, though cold, and there was no hot tub. The beds were uncomfortable, and the couch was very firm too. The resort itself is nice, but dated and at the lower end of the resort range. The people are nice. You do have to keep track of everything and sign for it. I'm used to that, but having to sign for every little thing here makes the place feel cheap.

A villa costs 3500 per day, while a room is 2800. The bathtub is nice. If you're a group of five or more, a villa is the better choice.

Downtown is close, though the route there doesn't have a good sidewalk. The location is great overall, but getting bags from the parking lot is inconvenient since it's a bit of a walk.
