The cleaning staff were the one bright spot: they were kind and professional. The front desk, though, was unfriendly and unhelpful, and the rooms were only average for the very high price. We had to pay everything before check-in, the AC didn't work, and our requests for toiletries and basic accommodations were ignored. We were here for my sister's wedding, and the hotel had advertised breakfast as included, then charged us an outrageous amount when we arrived. The bar never opened, and the restaurant shut early each night, leaving guests with nowhere to eat. The hotel is isolated, so guests who came from Chicago without cars had almost no way to find food or anything nearby. Communication was a mess too. They fired the wedding planner shortly before the event without telling my sister. Staff didn't clean the grounds for the wedding until just hours before the ceremony, and only after repeated complaints. They also added charges for everything they could. If you're thinking of having a wedding here, expect poor treatment and plan to bring your own planner. The place felt disorganized and overpriced, like getting every dollar out of guests mattered most. I'd avoid it, especially if you're traveling in from elsewhere.

The A/C failed in several rooms, and there weren't enough fans for the heat. The receptionist was also rude and dismissive, which made an already stressful day harder. At our wedding at Hacienda Labor de Rivera, management and the owner were uncooperative and unprofessional, with no real grasp of customer service or handling an event of this size. They didn't honor our contract and kept adding unexplained fees. After we brought in some outside vendors, staff took it out on us and our guests. They said there was no alcohol left when there clearly was, because they refused to serve it. At points they also wouldn't provide water or soft drinks. For a venue that presents itself as a luxury wedding spot, the way we and our guests were treated was disrespectful. We wouldn't recommend it for anyone's important event.

The cleaning crew were warm and polite, always greeting people with a smile. That was the one good part. The front desk seemed indifferent and unhelpful, and could use basic customer service training. In the room, the hard, lumpy bed made it nearly impossible to sleep well. Mosquitoes were awful, and the air conditioner didn't work at all. With the comfort and upkeep problems, along with the staff issues, I wouldn't recommend staying here or come back myself.
