Hotel El Descanso Inn

The room was filthy, with stained walls and an old, smelly carpet. There was no A/C, and they added a cleaning fee to the price advertised outside, despite the state of the room. I checked in around midnight and left at 7 a.m. on July 11. The rate didn't match the big red numbers posted outside. Horrible.

It's on a highway, so it isn't especially quiet, but it did the job for me. The room was small and quaint, plenty of space for one and likely enough for another person. There's WiFi and just a few TV channels, all Spanish-language, though enough to keep you entertained. Parents should know there are three adult channels.

I called yesterday because I need a place to stay in 14 days, and the front desk operator hung up on me. I'm not a bad person, and I wish the woman who answered had put me through to someone I could talk to instead of ending the call.

The hotel is old, and almost none of the AC units work. The room was nasty, and the staff inside were horrible, though I do appreciate their security. I didn't mind paying for my dogs, but the employee was rude and offensive when he scolded me for bringing my two babies without paying. He said he hadn't noticed them at check-in and was worried his boss would catch him on camera. Management needs to talk with him about customer service in a border city. I will never stay here again, even if that means sleeping in my car. It's sad, since I'm in TJ every other day or weekend.
