Hotel Real del Río

The buffet breakfast is free, with authentic Mexican food and fresh pressed juices. They also help arrange transportation, and the mall is just three blocks away, an easy and safe walk. The place itself is beautiful, and the customer service was amazing. Great hot showers with strong pressure, too.

I felt very safe here and would recommend Hotel del Rio. On my first trip to TJ, I stayed in a modern, clean room with nice beds, robes, and a shower. The included breakfast buffet was very good, with made to order omelettes, eggs, pancakes, and hot dishes from birria to pasta. I saw some comments about room space and interior hallways. Maybe that applies to some rooms, but mine faced outside and had a perfectly normal view. I don't know why there are negative reviews. I'd stay again.

The breakfast buffet is hard to beat, with lots of choices and fresh juices. If you don't see what you want, they'll make omelettes, quesadillas, pancakes, bacon, whatever. The staff are all great, and the room was the nicest I've had at a hotel. It's clean and modern, too. There are lots of construction projects and new high rises going up nearby, but we didn't hear any of it from our room, and it didn't bother us.

We chose this hotel because it was right across the street from the facility where we were having IVF. We paid $120 for one night, after spending thousands of dollars in USD on IVF, and the most convenient place for us left us feeling awful. The next morning, staff interrupted our breakfast and accused my husband of taking the Chromecast. It wasn't in the room when we arrived. They had him check the room with them, and he explained that we never had one. They still asked for his credit card, even though it was already on file, saying they needed it to pay for the Chromecast. We had no reason to take a $60 item when we have everything we need at home in the US, but they treated him like a criminal. I told them afterward that if there was an issue, they could charge the deposit. Interrupting breakfast to accuse someone of stealing made no sense. Who would steal something and then go downstairs to eat? We had generously tipped the bellman and waiters. If you stay here, check your room on arrival and report any problems right away.
