ibis Mexico Tlalnepantla

One of my colleagues is a strict vegetarian, and the kitchen made vegetarian meals or noodles especially for him. The staff also made an effort to understand what guests need, using translation sites on their phones when language got in the way. The rooms are clean and well maintained, and breakfast is a hearty spread. Nice place.

I often travel with IBIS hotels, and this stay was a good experience. There were chocolates and a bottle of water waiting in the room, a nice surprise. The room felt new and was squeaky clean, and the staff were always friendly. Good value for a cheap stay, I'd recommend it.

We were threatened all night by phone, recorded and kept in fear until morning. On the second night, an unknown number called and tried to extort us, threatening kidnapping or even killing us. The caller knew details only the hotel had been given, including the reservation site. We couldn't sleep, and in the morning we were told to take the hotel taxi. We fled with just a few things, met relatives, then came back later with more family to collect our belongings. When we spoke to the general manager, he said, "it's unfortunate it happened," but he also offered clues about the call that we hadn't told him, without looking at a computer screen. We can't even file a police report because there's no justice in Mexico. I don't want anyone else to go through what we did. It was literal hell, and we'll always be traumatized. Please be careful and don't ignore this review. I don't recommend staying here at all for your safety.

There were loud parties at night, so light sleepers may want to reconsider. The other issue was a security guard insisting I let him take my temperature with an infrared thermometer aimed at my forehead, claiming it was hotel policy. I said he could check without pointing it at my head, and when I asked for management, he dropped it. The hotel was adequate for the price aside from those two things. They need staff with more common sense, not trigger-happy robocops.
