The location is really convenient, but I wasn’t impressed by how clean the rooms were. The floors felt sticky, and light came in through gaps in the wooden doors. We were glad we only booked one night and found a cleaner place for less money. You may be able to find something cleaner for a better price, though it probably won’t be as conveniently located. Something to think about.

The women working there were great, but the man was rude and needs to improve his customer service. The rooms need work, and it was very noisy. Our bed had a dip in the middle, so I woke up with a backache. The rooms also need more light, they’re really dark. I wouldn’t recommend staying here or come back myself.

We booked through Expedia, but at arrival they said we hadn’t paid and charged us again. Expedia had already charged us, and a week later I still hadn’t received a refund for the duplicate charge. The place was extremely hot, with no outside ventilation, and we couldn’t sleep because it felt like we were suffocating. In the middle of the night, we heard several guests complaining about having bites on their bodies. If that sounds like what you want, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I’d stay away.

The thick adobe walls, from 18 inches to 3 feet, keep the rooms naturally cool, and the rooms have 14-foot ceilings. Hotel Casona is an old historic estate that feels like a diamond in the rough, with a small spa and temazcal. It had newly opened when I stayed, and La Cocina Prehispanica was due to open soon. I’m looking forward to staying here again.

This was my third stay here, and each visit has been better than the one before. It’s reasonably clean, the atmosphere is very friendly, and I highly recommend it.
