Hotel Santa Rosa

The apartment at Hotel Santa Rosa was great, and Miguel was especially good as manager. The booking through El Torote Management Group also seemed professional at first: we received the contract and keys, and paid as arranged. The problem came after we checked out. They’ve held onto my 20,000 MXN deposit for more than 1.5 months and now ignore my emails and WhatsApps. It’s been a frustrating end to an otherwise lovely romantic trip, spending the following 1.5 months chasing our own money. That’s a very unprofessional way for a hotel and rental group to treat guests. I’m sharing this so other Todos Santos / La Paz travelers don’t get caught in the same situation. Feel free to pass it along.

The staff were kind and accommodating, and we’d happily stay again. The rooms were comfortable, in a calm, safe area within walking distance of downtown. There are only a few rooms, so the clean pool and garden stay quiet and relaxing. Breakfast wasn’t the best, though plenty of other options are an easy walk away. We stayed four nights and didn’t get any room cleaning.

We liked this new hotel, though the TV in our room wasn’t working well and none of the staff could get it sorted. There’s no staff on site. The World Series was on, and one night we watched it in the bar. The bartender was a great guy and spoke English well.

We had a casual, modern rehearsal dinner at Quinta Santa Rosa, with fresh fish caught locally that morning. I’m pretty sure that meal will be what everyone remembers from our wedding weekend. We booked all 8 rooms and held the dinner here, and my family and friends kept telling me how amazing everyone at the hotel was. From the people who checked everyone in to those who put together dinner and handled all the details over our 3 day weekend, the whole team made the experience memorable. The breakfast was delicious, the rooms comfortable, and the bartenders friendly. It’s close to town, yet the pool gives the place a little oasis feel. I can’t recommend the people here enough.
