The property has clearly been lovely once, but it needs a lot of upkeep and a fresh coat of paint. Our room was decorated, though very basic, and the door could not be locked from outside. There was a way to shut it so people inside could not get out, which felt creepy. The pool stays in the shade all day. We picked this for our last night because we wanted to be nearer the airport. It's closer than Cancun, and a taxi was still cheaper than one from Cancun, but there was no airport shuttle despite the listing. There isn't much nearby to do or many restaurants. The location wasn't good for anything else.

The host is kind and helpful, and speaks German, English, and Spanish fluently, which made settling into Mexico much easier. Staying here also means being around Mexicans and getting a feel for the real Mexico. If you want to explore and get to know the country, this is a great fit. For luxury and having everything handled for you, the hotel zone is probably a better choice.

The airport is conveniently close, so this works for a night, but I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay. The room smelled musty and parts of it weren't cleaned well. There's just a curtain between the toilet and bathroom, and the bathroom window has no covering, so anyone can see you naked coming out of the shower. Wi-Fi was okay.

There was plenty of space and it was peaceful. My family were the only guests, so we had the whole afternoon to ourselves. The place is a bit neglected, though, and the pool and green areas need some care.
