I've stayed at this hotel three times, and this visit was a huge disappointment. Two weeks before my birthday I contacted management to request a particular room, and they confirmed it. When I arrived, it wasn't available. They said they had meant that it would be given to me if it was available. The receptionist wasn't there, and two employees didn't speak English. After half an hour of arguing, we were given a completely different room. We had no hot water for two days. When I asked again for it to be fixed, the “supervisor” told me, “Maybe you need to find another hotel.” A lovely, professional message for my birthday. The breakfast used to be free; now the free option is coffee and one croissant with butter, and two eggs cost $25 American dollars. The gates were locked at night with nobody there to let us in, so we had to pass through a hole in the reed fence, often dressed up. On our last day they built a “hot tub” near the beach, while all the room faucets were broken or leaking. It's sad to see a once welcoming, nice hotel become such a mess. I definitely don't recommend it.

The location is great, but the place was absolutely disgusting. The water smelled so bad I wanted to throw up whenever I turned it on. Everything felt badly outdated. The huts had lots of holes, and when the wind blew, the tarp on top made such a racket it sounded like a hurricane outside. The staff did try to address a few smaller problems. They replaced our broken shower head, changed the lights, and did what they could to fix the AC. Still, if you want a nice, clean hotel, don't stay here.

We had the best view in room #5, and without the problems I'd have rated the place 5 stars. We were there for 5 days, and two nights brought rain and strong winds. On the first rainy night, drops started coming through the roof in the middle of the night. Soon the whole room was getting wet, especially my side of the bed, so I ended up trying to sleep on the small sofa. In the morning I told the guy at reception, and they tightened the tarp on the roof. Two nights later it rained again. It was okay for a while, then the wind loosened the tarp and the room got wet again. I was tired and angry after being up from about 1 am to 6 am. The water also kept cutting out. It stopped completely in our room one night. The receptionist, who I believe was the manager, got a worker to fix it the next day, but the water only ran for a few minutes before they had to come back and fix it again. After they left for the night, it stopped once more. The next day they got it running, but the pressure was very low, which my wife especially didn't like. I'm not sure we'll ever come back. That's just our experience. Enjoy!

We spent more than a week in the Riviera Maya and used this place as our base, driving to Akumal, ruins, several good cenotes, Chichén, Valladolid, and other spots. The starting point for the Siaan Kaan biosphere is only a mile or two away, and it's not to be missed if you have the right kind of vehicle. The beachfront bungalows are large, secluded, and have spacious bathrooms, good-sized windows, and cozy balconies. For a stay right on the beach without spending a fortune, we don't think it gets much better. This stretch of the strip is great, walkable to beach clubs, convenience stores, and nightlife. It's quiet too, since the beachfront rooms are closer to the ocean than the street. There's free parking, polite hospitality, and a laidback feel, with Mr. Paco at reception, the restaurant team, and housekeepers Ana & Nancy all friendly, helpful, and kind. We even got a free room upgrade. The included breakfast is basic, but we were fine with it. We researched every option and this exceeded our expectations. It's a small hotel with fantastic beach access, though it isn't an all-inclusive resort or a luxury boutique stay, and there's no swimming pool or private pool. The ocean is right there, though. We'd visit again and highly recommend it.

I always like staying here when I'm in the hotel zone. The place is right on the beach, with a restaurant and the best nightlife spots nearby. The rooms are spacious and cozy, and the high-quality mattresses make for a wonderfully restful sleep. The customer care is incredible too. Super recommended!
