Cabañas Maalix

The view and the food at the seaweed beach bar were both five stars. Eli was a wonderful host, and the staff were very accommodating. The rooms are rustic, but we always had hot water, which isn’t something you can count on everywhere in Tulum. It’s worth the trip, and if you’ve wanted to try kite surfing, it’s right on the property.

We loved our three nights here. The cabana stayed comfortable at night, which had been our main worry, and the whole experience was really fun. The beach club was friendly and reasonably priced, with lots of locals hanging out there on Sunday afternoon. I’d happily recommend it, though the small cabanas probably aren’t great for families.

The place has a laid-back feel, with delicious food, good prices, and a great staff. We really enjoyed staying here. It’s rustic, and you’ll have sand on you all the time, but for us the rest made that worthwhile.

The beach cabanas are definitely worth it. The ones farther back are fine and more affordable. Victor works at the sea weed beach bar on the beach, and he’s a great guy with good food. I returned to Maalix in December. Victor was gone, and the place had lost its life. I can’t give it five stars anymore.
