Casa Colonial Vintage Hotel

I stayed two nights in December 2024, and there was some kind of party with extremely loud music going past 4 AM. It came through even with every window and door closed. We asked the front desk to step in, but the young person on the night shift told us to call the police or go to another hotel. This was around 3:00 AM, and the hotel did nothing. It was their responsibility to contact the police or speak to the people making all that noise.

The area is very humid, which makes mold a problem in the air-conditioned rooms. I stayed in a room without AC that had floor fans instead. It was clean, with hot water and a comfortable bed. The clothing shop next door offers excellent next-day laundry for a small fee.

In the centro area, this is a nice hotel with a pool for relaxing during the day, housekeeping, and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Bikes are available for 150 pesos per 24 hours, though prices changed from night to night. The standard room is $21 a night and only has a fan, so expect it to be very hot. A deluxe room costs $41 and has AC. Walk-in rates are high, so I wouldn't recommend booking that way. Check Expedia and Booking.com, since one may be cheaper than the other. Be safe!

The staff were friendly, and the cleaning service was good. They came every day to make the bed and leave clean towels and toiletries. Still, I wouldn't choose this hotel for a longer stay. The room was just OK. At first the shower had no hot water and the toilet wouldn't flush, though both got fixed fairly quickly. The shower head was odd and barely put out water. Then the toilet broke again right before we left. The door couldn't be locked from outside, so anyone could get in while we were gone, and there was no safe. I'd avoid leaving valuables in the room.
