Casa Mango

For three days our small group of ten went birding and visited Mayan sites, then came back to this distinctive place. Each cabana was individually hand-built by Adone, who also cooked. He and Ernesto served delicious breakfasts and dinners, with a lovely mix of Italian and local food outdoors. Our group leader had brought us here, and it turned out to be a hidden gem.

Such a beautiful setting, with a great mix of jungle and everyday comforts. The cabanas belong here, and the whole place is calm and peaceful. The owner is a genuinely good guy. He speaks Italian, English, and Spanish, let me use his kitchen, lent me a really good mountain bike, and offered to take me on a private ride through the jungle. I definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed in the Zoe cabana, and it was just right for me and my four children. The shower was lovely and hot, and everything was perfectly clean. Breakfast was fresh and beautifully done, and the waitresses were warm and friendly. Adone was a welcoming host with lots of tips for the area and kid-friendly places. His suggestion of Punta Lagoona was like something out of a dream. Casa mango was a remarkable break from busy life. The area felt raw at first, but also surreal, and the people were lovely. It was a real taste of everyday life. We also found a restaurant on the corner serving probably the best taco pastor we had, and we ate a lot of it. The price was very reasonable too.
