We had a wonderful stay, and the whole family loved it. The room was spacious, the view was stunning, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and keep leftovers in the fridge. Drinking water was provided, and housekeeping kept the room spotless and stocked with what we needed. We went snorkeling right outside our room several times a day and saw all kinds of beautiful fish. Really glad we found this hidden gem and we’ll be back. One thing to know: there was sargassum on the beach right in front of the hotel, but you could walk through it to reach a clean, pristine stretch of beach. The shoreline is rocky, so bring water shoes. Don’t let that keep you from swimming, it’s worth it.

We loved eating at La Buena Vida, the on-site restaurant, and the staff were welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. Del Sol Beachfront Condos and Hotel in Akumal sits right on Half Moon Bay, with beautiful ocean views from our room. Our condo was spacious, clean and well equipped, with a full kitchen and private balcony. There’s a pool, free Wi-Fi, and direct beach access with loungers, which made it easy to relax. It’s also a great base for exploring Akumal, from snorkeling with sea turtles to visiting Yal-ku Lagoon or just enjoying the quiet surroundings. We’d happily return on our next trip to Akumal.

The snorkeling is great, and the beach area is nice, with hammocks to relax in and drinking water provided. This time we stayed in a three-bedroom condo, which had plenty of space and three bathrooms. We last came here exactly ten years ago, and Del Sol still looks just as well kept, including the grounds, rooms and beach. It isn’t a luxury hotel, though we’ve stayed in several, but it won’t disappoint.

There’s great snorkeling nearby, and you can rent kayaks, bikes or snorkel gear. The beach is only steps from your room. The rooms face the Caribbean and have air conditioning and private balconies with hammocks overlooking the water. A gorgeous beachfront inn, perfect in every way.

We came looking for a quiet beach spot with good snorkeling and nature, away from crowds, and this was just right. The room was incredibly clean, maybe the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in, and all the staff were kind and helpful. If English is your only language, you’ll be fine. Even the staff who didn’t speak it were very good at communicating. Small touches made a difference: some outdoor and indoor lights use red bulbs to protect night vision and local wildlife. The front desk rents life jackets, snorkel gear, kayaks, bikes and beach towels. Bring pesos for the rentals, since there’s no ATM at Del Sol. You can pay the room rate by credit card. The beach is sandy, with some seaweed buildup that didn’t bother us. Getting into the water is rocky, with a little seaweed for the first few feet, so water shoes are a good idea. Snorkeling right offshore is excellent. We saw cuttlefish, trigger fish, flounder, fan corals, turtles and plenty more if you know what to look for. There’s no lifeguard or roped-off swimming area in this part of the bay. Please use reef-safe sunscreen, or better yet, UV rash guards, to protect the environment. We had an amazing time and will definitely come back. It’s beautiful, clean and comfortable, especially if you want a private, relaxing stay close to nature. There’s housekeeping and equipment rental, but not lots of other services. The front desk is often empty, though someone usually comes along after a few minutes, and the wait is never very long.
