Nest Tulum

The pool area is gorgeous, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. NEST Tulum is a lovely choice for a romantic escape or a restful vacation. Our spacious, comfortable room was beautifully decorated, and the design across the property mixes modern comforts with tropical nature really well. The location is ideal for the beach and Tulum’s best restaurants and attractions. Staff were attentive and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

Our room was quite spacious, and the location was fantastic. There’s a private section of beach with exclusive sunbeds, reached by a lovely path through the jungle. The hotel was impeccably kept, with the exterior and sand cleaned every day. We had a wonderful stay.

We booked the whole hotel for our wedding weekend, and everyone kept telling us how happy they were with their stay. Friends at the neighboring hotel even came over for breakfast and snacks throughout the weekend because they loved how perfect NEST is. The setting is gorgeous and so well maintained. I’d recommend it 11/10.

We had a nice time, but we won’t return to Tulum, at least not in peak season. We were there for six nights at the end of a Mexico trip over Christmas and New Year, traveling with our son and paying just over USD 2,000 per night for two rooms. We’ve traveled a lot and rarely gotten so little for so much money. That’s not only down to Hotel Nest, though Tulum certainly knows how to take tourists’ money in high season. The grounds are lovely and the beach is very nice, but there weren’t enough sun loungers for the few rooms. Some people reserved them with beach towels early every morning, probably in exchange for tips, and the hotel also rented the already limited loungers to outsiders. Guests paying so much for a room were left putting towels on the sand or renting a lounger at another hotel. The rooms were okay, just average. Water came out slowly, and getting the temperature right was difficult. After one rain, our room flooded. We heard from other guests who had to move rooms twice, so it wasn’t just us. The hotel didn’t apologize. There were a few silverfish in the closet, which can happen in the south. The kitchen was below us, and late at night and early in the morning a terrible smell came into our room from all sides. Breakfast was bare minimum, with no buffet and an extra charge for each egg. The grounds and beach were beautiful, but that didn’t make up for the rest.
