The complex was lovely and green, with peaceful, secure grounds. Its pools looked great and were never crowded, and there was private access to the beach. Staff were attentive and friendly whenever I needed help, and the whole stay, from check-in to check-out, was well organized. I spent my holiday at Santamar by Tao and loved the apartment. It was modern, spotless, and spacious, with a comfortable layout and everything I needed. The balcony became my favorite spot for coffee in the morning or a drink at night while listening to nature. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which matters in this climate, and the kitchen had what I needed to cook. If you want somewhere peaceful and high quality near Tulum’s beaches and cenotes, but away from the noise, this is a great fit. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
I had a confirmed two-night reservation, but afterward the host changed the terms and said a three-night minimum was required. Then I was told the accommodation had been rented to other guests for my dates and that I would not be allowed in if I showed up. The original agreement wasn’t honored, which was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. The host’s communication and reliability were seriously lacking. I’d urge others to be cautious about booking here.
The beach was the biggest disappointment. It was covered in Sargasso weeds, making it impossible to swim and hard to walk along because the decomposing seaweed smelled so strong. The complex itself is new and the rooms are clean, though some decorating work was still going on during the day, with drilling noise.
Getting around for food or activities means having a car or arranging car service, since nothing is walkable. The nearby beach isn’t suitable for swimming or lounging. There’s what looks like an abandoned hotel next to the “beach club,” which seems to have managed the beach. The shore looked washed away and was covered with stones and debris. The condominiums are lovely, depending on how each owner has styled them. The grounds are clean and the pools are decent. Be careful with the elevators. We got stuck in one without cell reception, and the radio inside wasn’t working. After 15 minutes, another resident heard us pounding and screaming, and the alarm ringing, and got help.
Our condo, Casa Blanca, had a lovely balcony and rooftop view, and the host and staff were exceptionally communicative. We had easy beach access, and restaurants were just down the beach. The beach house by the pool was handy, with restrooms and a foot shower, and parking was right in front of the building. My husband and I booked a week at a Santamar condo through Airbnb, and it was one of our best Airbnb stays. The place was relaxing and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was very well stocked, the bedroom was super comfortable with nice sheets and bedding, and the bathrooms had great towels. Even the tile underfoot was beautiful and comfortable. I hope we can return soon.
