Orchid House Tulum Beach

We got the whole place to ourselves by coming in the off season, which was the best decision. The rooms were beautiful, the food was delicious, and everyone on staff was friendly and ready to help. Waking up to the waves felt like paradise. Our suite had a fridge, fan, AC, and TV, so call to check what comes with the room before you book. The beach house is right downstairs, and there are great photo spots too. Bring bug spray for the mosquitoes! lol 💯💯👍👍

SCAM ALERT: Orchid House Tulum Jungle is keeping guests' money and ignoring them. Travelers, don't book here. A technical glitch created two reservations for the same dates, and I canceled both right away within the permitted window. What should have been a straightforward refund has turned into total silence from the hotel. I tried email, phone, and social media. My messages have been read and ignored, as the attached screenshots show. This feels like deliberate silence meant to let credit card dispute deadlines pass, not just poor service. The hotel is holding payment for two rooms it never provided, and may have resold those rooms to other guests. To me, that's profiteering. A business that won't acknowledge cancellation proof and shuts down every way to resolve a dispute feels like a financial trap, and I suspect these are fraudulent practices. This is formal notice to Orchid House Tulum Jungle management that hiding behind a no-response policy violates consumer rights. I'm escalating the matter to the Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General, and local consumer advocacy groups. A reputable hotel should care about its integrity. The beach is lovely, and we actually think staying at Orchid Beach House saved us money compared with the all-inclusive resorts we considered. It does feel rustic next to those high-rise resorts, though. We spent our days having breakfast, walking the beach, using our rooftop plunge pool, walking by the water again, then having a late lunch or early supper since the kitchen closes at 6pm. The included continental breakfast was delicious: yogurt with granola, coffee, fresh squeezed juice, a fruit plate, homemade bread, and marmalade. We also tried the chilaquiles and juevos rancheros, both outstanding. The chef and kitchen staff really excel. I liked the Zarendeado fish so much that I ordered it twice during the week. Roger, our server, and Conrad, his son ;-), made us feel pampered. On our last evening, they brought our wine and dinner up to the rooftop. Housekeeping was accommodating and freshened our room while we were at breakfast. We had a wonderful week here and are both looking forward to coming back.

This was my worst trip. They charged for everything, even a very basic breakfast: just a dry piece of bread, with no cheese. I'd skip breakfast and get one of the much better options on the street. The bathroom was dirty, especially the disgusting sink. The stones hadn't been cleaned properly, and I kept thinking about how much bacteria might be there. It made me feel sick. The shower area was gross too, particularly around the drain.
