Romano Palace

I cancelled my reservation, but when the hotel called to ask when I'd arrive and I explained, they hung up. A few minutes later they charged me anyway. I've emailed them and got no response. What a rip-off. I don't recommend them at all.

The view is lovely and you can walk to everything, but the hotel is old and needs an upgrade. We booked three rooms for our family: one had broken AC and dirty sheets, another had a clogged sink, and the third had a wet bathroom floor that smelled like it hadn't been cleaned. There was no lotion, they were stingy with towels, and the trash cans had no bags until I asked for some. Parking costs extra. The hotel's parking was supposedly full on the day we arrived, so we had to use a farther garage that charged more. It doesn't look as nice as the online pictures, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The hotel is huge and very clean, with comfortable beds and pillows and air conditioning in every room. The staff were all friendly, and the service was very good. The pool is lovely, on the second or third floor, and its design matches the hotel's Roman theme, like the lobby. The price is affordable. To get to the beach, you just cross the street, and the same busy tourist avenue has loads of shops, restaurants, and drugstores.

It's close to the beach, and I liked the location and the balance between quality and price. In two days, though, I had three bad experiences with service at the desk, from the bellboy, or from the people cooking. Some areas need better service. Breakfast service from the waiter was great, but there aren't many dishes to choose from. I'd say not to expect great service.
