Panacea Condo Tulum

We came as a couple in the off-season and rented the apartment with its own pool. It was gorgeous, with a spacious layout, a huge bed, and good air conditioning for getting out of the heat. The shared tropical garden and pool were lovely and peaceful too. You're only a block from La Veleta's main street, so cafes and restaurants are close while the apartment still feels tranquil. There's plenty of parking in front and along the side if you rent a car, which I'd recommend. The hosts communicated well, and the check-in and checkout directions were clear. For the money, this was the best value I've found anywhere, even after quite a bit of budget travel. A great pick if you don't want to pay for the beach hotel zone.

The apartment was a great size and looked gorgeous, with a modern feel, strong wifi, air conditioning, a roomy bathroom, a huge balcony, and a king bed. The pool was clean, and I liked how deep it was. It's good value, but Panacea could do a lot better. We never got the check-in instructions. The kitchen had loads of ants, the tap was in very bad shape, and there were no basics at all, not even coffee, sugar, oil, or tea. We arrived late and had to go out to buy essentials. The gym is a nice extra, but the equipment looked dated and dirty, and the treadmill didn't work.

The bed was comfortable and the place was beautifully decorated, but I left early and wouldn't stay here again. The male staff, when they were around, ignored me throughout. They didn't greet me, ask how my stay was, or even acknowledge me. One older, fair-skinned male staff member I smiled at and greeted looked at me with disdain. I'm a Black woman traveling alone, and the treatment felt anti-Black. It was the only bad part of an otherwise lovely trip to Tulum. There are many beautiful, welcoming places to stay.

FiFi the cat was the highlight of my trip. She's so friendly and follows you right to your room, lol. This is my new favorite place to stay in Tulum.
