Hotel Los Frailes, Valladolid, Yucatán

The garden was a highlight for me, especially the pepper tree by the water well. Take a moment to smell it and relax there. We ended our day with a great dinner in the garden after exploring Mayan ruins and cenotes, then cooled off in the beautiful pool. The rooms were impeccably clean, which we really appreciated after those long days. We drove from Cancun to Valladolid to explore the Yucatán Peninsula and wanted an authentic experience. Hotel Los Frailes felt like a great home base. The locally owned character comes through around the property, and the garden and pool decor honor Valladolid’s colonial architecture and cultural heritage. I also appreciated the care taken with the trees and native plants. There are rooms in different sizes, so it can work for solo travelers, couples, or families. For us, the comfortable bed, fridge, safe box, AC, quiet nights, and in-room amenities were what mattered. The parking is inside the property, which felt very safe. For the price, it’s hard to beat the warmth of a local place with boutique-hotel character and a convenient location. Valladolid is a treasure, and we’ll definitely return on our next Yucatán trip.
