The staff made our stay especially memorable. When we took an afternoon off from wine tasting and sightseeing, we found the hotel restaurant had closed. The team promptly ordered food from a nearby restaurant and set it out for us at a table in the dining area. Such a thoughtful gesture. The place is peaceful, with beautiful views, great hiking trails, and delicious food. We loved the location and how comfortable and welcome the staff made us feel throughout our stay.

We left early, and they refunded the second night and gave us a bottle of wine. But we still paid full price for the night we spent dealing with noxious fumes. If this is a known problem in some rooms, guests should be told before booking. I’d visit for the restaurant or the views, but I’d skip staying overnight. The property itself is stunning, but Room 2 was not worth nearly $400 a night. After dinner, we noticed a strong rotten egg smell outside, then realized it had seeped into our room. It made us feel dizzy. We opened the windows and called staff. Someone came to spray air freshener and pour something down the drain, and said this happens often in certain rooms. That was concerning. We had to sleep with the windows open in the cold, and the smell never fully went away. Breakfast was another problem the next morning. We waited more than an hour after ordering and never got our food, while people who ordered later were served. We had to leave for a wine tasting without time to eat or get ready properly.

The tasting room and property were lovely. We stopped in only for a wine tasting, and since we were the only guests there for most of it, our guide was very attentive. The four-pour tasting cost about $45 per person.

I’ve been coming here for more than 15 years, and it used to be a very nice place. Maybe the administration has changed, but the view is still beautiful. What a shame, because this experience reflected so poorly on my beloved Mexico. At the entrance, the guard was extremely rude and asked where we were going as if he didn’t want to let us in. Then he asked if we had a reservation, although one isn’t necessary for entry. Once inside, a simple tasting of four wines cost $100 each. Even for a luxury restaurant, that’s expensive. Other places just as extravagant are around $30-40. I’ll never come back.

The huts are built around the pool and pavilion, which they advertise as open 24/7, but service is lacking despite the US prices. There’s a vineyard right there, yet the staff seemed to know nothing about the wine. They charged $75 USD for a mediocre, bitter bottle, while top Michelin restaurants in the area charge $25 USD for better wine. The restaurant and bar close at 4 pm on Sunday, so you’re left to yourself while paying $400+ USD a night with no service. Lovely spot, though.
