Nômade Temple Holbox

The restaurant made a lasting impression, especially the staff. Hostess Angie and servers Andy, Raimonds, and Nayib treated us like the most important guests every day. Naomi made check-out pleasant and easy. Our four-night honeymoon was amazing from the moment we arrived. Eric at the front desk set the tone with a warm welcome and great attention to detail. The hotel and rooms are thoughtfully put together, with a lovely vibe from the music and copal scent. I loved the treehouse room (#9), with its outdoor shower, rooftop terrace, open-screen restroom, view, and location. I’d recommend it to everyone, and would come back any chance I get.

The wellness and spiritual activities were the highlight of our trip and felt life-changing. We had the most peaceful, restorative, romantic vacation of our lives at Nomade. The food at the beautiful seaside restaurant was delicious, and every staff member was friendly. Their Michelin recognition feels well earned, with so much care put into everything. The journey was comfortable and seamless, including the three-hour ride from the airport to the island. On arrival, the copal scent and low lighting brought out the branch-built architecture and made the place feel magical. Misuri at the front desk was warm and lovely throughout check-in. Since everything is open-air, they had bug repellent ready for guests. Even the en-suite bathroom is open to the outdoors, which made showering feel connected to the surroundings. I’d wanted to stay here for years, and finally splurged on the Path to Holbox package. Every penny was worth it, from start to finish. I can’t wait to return.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, but we did eat at its restaurant. We arrived by bicycle and were told to lock our bikes because the hotel offers its own to guests. We did, but our bicycles were taken anyway. Somehow the locks had been opened, and they were left at the front desk. The staff said there was nothing they could do except text us when the bikes came back. They called us a taxi but didn’t offer to cover it. The bikes were returned later that night, and we took a taxi to collect them in the morning. The taxis cost us 400 pesos, and we missed the after-dinner plans we’d made with our bikes. They didn’t even offer a discounted breakfast. For a hotel and restaurant charging such high prices, I expected much better handling of the situation. Separately, I find it ironic that a hotel charging 400 to 600 usd a night calls itself a Nomad's place!

The room could use a little more light. It was hard to read, so bring something along, and maybe pack bug repellent too. They’re thoughtful about providing it and managing bugs on the property, but it could still be useful. We loved the beautiful decor, the friendly staff, and all the environmentally conscious touches. The food was incredible, and the massages with Eduardo and Flor were exceptional. We also enjoyed yoga and the sound bath. It’s a wonderful place off the beaten path to relax for a few days.
