We just wrapped up another week at Palapas del Sol, our fifth year in a row. Over the past 20+ years, very few places have made my wife and me want to return like this one. We love Palapas del Sol and Isla Holbox more each time. The beach is immaculate and quiet, swept daily by the staff. It’s easy to walk up to Punto Mosquito or into downtown, and Palapas now offers free bicycles too. The food is homely and feels as authentic as the people who make it. Plenty of Holbox restaurants focus too much on presentation; here the meals are fresh, delicious, and feel like a reflection of the place. They squeeze juice fresh every day, make special trips to the mainland for ingredients for big groups and repeat guests, and serve coconut shrimp we look forward to all year. Prices are reasonable, including for cocktails and other drinks. The staff, especially Eddie, Augustin, and the kitchen crew, are caring, genuine people who work incredibly hard. Adriana, the owner, is the heartbeat of this magical place. Don't miss it.

We had a wonderful, relaxing three nights at Casa Palapas del Sol. The location is right by the beach, with stunning sunrise and sunset views. The large rooms were comfortable, the wooden bungalow architecture was lovely, and the place was quiet and relaxing. The pool was nice, and the gym is great for a hotel gym. A few things could be improved. The lights in the rooms are so dim we could barely see, and without a carpet to wipe your feet, sand gets everywhere quickly even if you’re careful. There are also mosquitoes all over, probably because of the mangrove right beside the hotel. I think the hotel should invest in mosquito devices. Some work well and are used by other hotels. We ate breakfast and ordered at the restaurant a few times. The food wasn’t outstanding, and service was insanely slow, our lunch took 1h30 to arrive. The restaurant could really use some work. Fix those issues and this would be an easy five stars. The hotel has a lot of potential, and we still had a great time. We highly recommend it for a relaxing stay in Holbox. The beach area was breathtaking and comfortable, and the hotel is right on the beach, just a short walk from the city. Breakfast was amazing, and the staff were great. Dinner wasn’t good, though, and we ended up collecting our luggage ourselves after waiting more than 40 minutes for it to be brought to our room.

I wish I could give this place ten stars, because it would deserve them. Our whole family had an amazing experience, with the best service we could have asked for. Everything was clean and tidy, and we’re already looking forward to our next vacation. Perfect is the only word.

We chose the Tower Room at Palapas del Sol for our honeymoon trip to Holbox with our baby daughter, stretching our budget a little to do it. It costs more than the regular rooms, but I really think it’s worth every penny. There are three private terraces and a private watchtower where you can take in incredible sunsets with a 360° view. The staff were always smiling, kind, and helpful, and the service felt on par with a luxury hotel. The food was delicious, and the prices for meals, drinks, and cocktails were more than fair. The beach sunbeds were perfect for relaxing. This hotel feels magical, and I sincerely hope we get to come back and experience it all again.
