Holiday Inn Veracruz Centro Historico

The location won me over: the zócalo, cathedral, restaurants, and malecón are all an easy walk away. I had a rental car and parking was free behind the hotel. The entrance is between the hotel and restaurant and easy to miss, and getting into the lot is a tight squeeze, but I had no issues. The building is beautiful and old, with a feel like traveling back in time. My room was a decent size, clean, and comfortable. There was a slight mildew smell, which I think comes with a building this old. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I'd always stayed at a different hotel in Veracruz and was hesitant to try this one, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Just two blocks from the market, this is an interesting historic building with courteous staff and clean, spacious rooms. There's an outdoor pool beneath a beautiful tree, with a closed well beside it. You can catch a cab right outside or walk to lots of places.

The air conditioning was a welcome relief in hot Veracruz, where it's a must. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the front desk staff were very nice. My room was clean and had that feeling of traveling back in time. The only drawback was a shower curtain with a bit of a mildew smell.

The market square is around the corner, along with restaurants and other things to do. Staff were friendly and accommodating throughout all three days, and my room was clean and nice, with plenty of places to charge devices. The pool area looked very nice. Breakfast downstairs was great, though dinner was only so-so, and they don't serve alcohol. I was hoping for a bar, but there's one around the corner. I had two minor complaints that bothered me: the Wi-Fi in my room never worked, even after I told the lobby and they reset something. My travel partner couldn't get Wi-Fi in his room either. The shower had very little pressure, though the water was hot.
