Hotel Rincón Del Angel

It’s comfortable, safe, and affordable. There’s no parking, but I left my vehicle in front of the hotel without any trouble.

The room was damp, visibly dirty, and full of insects. The bathroom taps had been installed badly, and although hot water is advertised, that service wasn’t actually available. The mattress and pillows were in rough shape, the sheets were so thin you could see through them, the towels smelled oddly of cigarettes, and the air conditioner was loud. With noisy roommates, nobody at reception would step in or help, so getting any rest seems unlikely. The supposed upsides are that it’s near the ADO (Aeropuerto de Santiago), takes credit cards, and charges for bills. Avoid it.

We only found the location useful. Our room was falling apart: when I tried to shut its only window, the shower drainpipe fell on me. There were no towels, the washing machines were noisy right outside, and the bed was impossible to use because the mattress springs stuck out. The receptionist offered no service at all. I’d consider staying only if an overnight stop were absolutely unavoidable.

The location worked well for getting around, downtown near the bus station, travel connections, and lots of restaurants. Price was also low: $370.00 for one night in a room for two with a double bed. The rest was a mixed bag. The service was ordinary, and the room cleanliness was questionable. I had to switch rooms after the first air conditioner started leaking right below the bed. The replacement didn’t leak, but its AC was still hard to operate, and the bed wasn’t comfortable. If you’re in a rush and have little or practically no budget, it might do. Ask for a decent room, though. I don’t plan to return.
