Hotel Klimt

The service is what earned this a five from me. It’s a solid four-star hotel, with valet and room service, and the kitchen staff know what they’re doing. Breakfast is a weekend buffet, though when it’s quiet they’ll make the included breakfast to order. Italia at reception moved me to a higher floor. Thanks to Victor in the restaurant and Italia at the front desk. I liked the little practical touches, like a drain cap under the shower grate and a shared bathroom drain, which I rarely see in Mexico. There are also three-way switches by the bed, so you don’t have to get up again. The neighborhood is cramped, with dogs barking nearby, and the hotel sits on a busy main strip with some vehicles having mufflers. The noise isn’t really the hotel’s fault. Markets are within walking distance, and there are lots of pharmacies nearby. I’ll be back.

The heater didn’t work, which was rough since nights were very cold in winter. Wi-Fi was quite slow on the top floors, and their internet filter blocked many websites. I was also woken several times each night by a large German shepherd on a rooftop apartment across the street. It barked at street dogs and people heading out early in the morning. Staff said they knew about it, and you can see and hear the dog from the lobby, but said they couldn’t do anything.

A lovely spot to unwind or stay for a business trip. The staff are amazing.

The location and service were excellent. I’m really pleased.
