Hotel María Victoria

Getting around Xalapa is easy from here, and the location couldn’t be better. The food was awesome, and the service even better. I also had one of the best hotel service experiences I’ve had, in a friendly environment with lots of amenities. The pool table was a great surprise, and there’s a karaoke bar where you can have a good time.

The parking is a real plus since finding a space in the city can be difficult, and the prices are very good for what you get. The location is amazing, just one block from the cathedral and downtown. I had a junior suite with two beds and a sofa, but the sofa was so old it was uncomfortable to sit on. The rooms are dated, and the old air conditioning shows its age. Wi-Fi is available, but it’s too slow and the weak signal makes it worse. I didn’t get to try the restaurant. They do offer a guest buffet for an extra charge.

I was looking for a room just for myself and asked the woman at the desk about one. I also asked if she could recommend another hotel nearby. She just said they had no rooms available. She was super rude, with no empathy at all. 👎🏼

The rooms were spacious and clean, with comfortably firm beds that felt comparable to a Hilton, Doubletree, or Marriott suites hotel. The bathroom was spotless, the shower had excellent hot water, and there were plenty of towels, so we didn’t need to ask for more. The TV worked fine. Hotel Maria Victoria is right in central Xalapa, close to excellent restaurants and beautiful old-style architecture.
