The photos give a true picture of the property, and there’s plenty of parking. Wi-Fi was good, water pressure was good, and there was hot water. The beds were comfortable, too. There aren’t many power outlets, just one on one side of the bed, so I recommend bringing an extension power strip. The ladies at reception were wonderful and offered us an upgrade, which we took. I recommend an upstairs room, especially #3, which was great in the corner, with a beautiful view and quiet.

The second-floor rooms are lovely, the hotel is clean and beautiful, and it’s quiet at night. The staff are nice. But we called and asked if any rooms were vacant, and were told there were. When we arrived, everything was occupied. A standard room is just a small space with a bed and wardrobe, nothing else, and there’s only soap in the room. Its window faces directly onto the table where breakfast is served in the morning, so it gets very noisy.

I can’t recommend this place. It’s way overpriced for the area, and getting there means driving down a long, rocky, unpaved road. By the time you arrive, you feel like you have to keep the room no matter what. The room was over 100 degrees, with no cross ventilation. I was there in MARCH. The girl at the desk said it cools down a lot at night, and it does, but the rock and tile construction, one tiny window, and no fan or AC kept it like a sauna all night. I told the front desk right away I wouldn’t stay a second night. The other sweaty guests and I spent the night lying on the floor with the door open or out on the patio, getting eaten by mosquitoes. The front desk said they couldn’t cancel or refund me and that the corporate office would have to handle it the following week. They did nothing. I’m traveling with a $100 charge to dispute with my bank. The corporate office was unbelievably rude. They wanted my bank and routing information over WhatsApp to void the transaction. No. They said they were “trying” to refund me but couldn’t send it back to the card I used, so too bad. It’s 2021, and there are hundreds of ways to transfer money by email. I’m not trying to get a $45 wire transfer from Mexico. Just use Zelle, PayPal, or anything. I still haven’t been refunded for the night I didn’t stay. They charge $40 for the hot box room and $5 for my dog. The shower head is literally the size of my finger. The bed is a rock, and there’s ONE plug in the whole room, on the wall above the “TV” thing. It’s a ridiculous setup for what could be a cute place. It’s worth about $15us, with so many options in the area and post-pandemia prices. OYO is a last resort. The kitchen is only open for breakfast, and only if or when the cook shows up. There’s no other food around. We all ate potato chips for dinner on a Saturday night from a local, run-down, poorly stocked tienda. If you’re going to the cascadas, just get a taxi to Coatepec and find a decent room and meal for about $29. I ended up finding a sweet Airbnb in La Pitahaya for $17, on the river at a private hacienda.

The garden view is lovely, and there’s a pool. We chose the place because pets are allowed for an extra charge, and the staff were kind and helpful. Family rooms are a little small, but still comfortable enough. There isn’t a proper restaurant, just a few snacks and light meals with limited variety, though nearby restaurants offer meal services. A few things could be better: the internet, the outlets in the rooms, and the small, somewhat outdated TV. It’s a place to unplug, but you still need those amenities. They don’t provide shower soap or shampoo, but I brought my own, so it didn’t bother me.

You can walk from the hotel to the Texolo waterfalls, which is a nice perk. The service is really friendly, and it’s an excellent hotel. The only drawback is that the restaurant service in the evening isn’t very good. You can walk from the hotel to the Texolo waterfalls, which is a nice perk.
