I don't usually write reviews, but this stay pushed me to. We had no usable Wi-Fi, no hot water, no usable amenities, and no privacy. We thought we were booking a romantic luxury boutique hotel in a converted historic hacienda. Instead, it was someone's home built in the 1980s, and it clearly wasn't designed or run by people in hospitality. I've traveled to 43 countries and stayed everywhere from tents to five-star places. I've also owned and operated a modest boutique hotel. This was by far the worst value I've experienced. Check-in was at 2pm, but our room still wasn't ready, so we waited another 30 minutes without a drink or anything to use while we waited. We went to see the pool and jacuzzi, advertised as heated. The pool uses passive solar heating and was frigid and unusable. There were no photos of anyone actually in it, just people posing nearby. The “suspended” jacuzzi was open to the public, visible from the restaurant, and unavailable throughout our stay. After we settled in, three hotel workers came onto our private patio while we were naked in bed. We could hear them talking two meters away, in plain view through the glass wall. They clearly knew we were there but kept moving the patio furniture. I guess the room still wasn't ready. The bathroom had no door. The toilet had a clear glass door that didn't reach the ceiling or floor. The in-room jacuzzi tub only had tepid tap water, colder than the shower, and no heater. We waited to see if the jets would warm it, but they didn't. We asked twice for help with the Wi-Fi, but nothing changed. They charge $8,000 a night but apparently can't afford a Wi-Fi router. The restaurant and kitchen seemed poorly staffed and supplied. Of the 15 wines listed, only two were available. We ordered a mid-level bottle of Baja wine, caesar salad, and tuna tartar for $2000. In this “historic hacienda in Jalisco,” they played Frank Sinatra on repeat. We asked for black pepper and fresh parmesan for the caesar salad, but neither was available. Those are ingredients in caesar dressing, so it felt like we were paying top dollar for Costco dressing. The next morning we had huevos rancheros and asked for salsa picante or chiles. In Jalisco, at a “historic hacienda,” they had neither. They did have Frank Sinatra on repeat, though. Any one of these problems could have been fixed by management. We tried to raise them in person, on the written comment card at checkout, and by email, but got no response. This place could be amazing if a hospitality business managed and redesigned it. As it is, it feels like someone's failed experiment. We spent $10,000 on dinner and one night. Please take your money somewhere else, anywhere.

The food and amenities were good, and the service was amazing. It has old Mexico charm, with awesome views from all over, especially by the pool area. I'll be back, though I wish the menu and TV had more English translation.

The views were breathtaking, and the place has a beautiful setting and a perfect atmosphere. The staff were warm and kind. It was a little overpriced, but still had a nice touch.

A great weekend spot for relaxing. The rooms are big enough, and the whole place has an antique look, much like colonial haciendas.

We went for a wedding and stayed a short time. What a magical place, it made for an amazing getaway!
