We arrived at the agreed check-in time, 12:00 pm, but there was no water, phone signal, or internet. Kathy's boyfriend was drinking with a group of women and men. He said Kathy was in the City dealing with the problem, showed us our room, and told us to make the best of things in the meantime. We waited about two hours, but we needed to shower, use the restroom, wash our hands, and make a phone call, so we couldn't stay. By then nobody was downstairs, just bottles, cans, and trash, with no one available to help and no way to contact them. We packed up and left before 3:00 pm. Once we got phone signal, we called Kathy. Her response wasn't what I expected. In summary, she said she wouldn't refund us, because a logical person would have found water somewhere else and gone wherever needed to get a signal. She said the lack of water and internet wasn't her fault, so she wouldn't pay us back. I hadn't received what I'd paid for, yet apparently I was supposed to fix the problem myself. At 5:30 pm, her boyfriend texted that the water and internet were back and the room was ready. That was 5.5 hours after check-in time. Seriously? A serious problem may not have been the owner's fault, but it wasn't the client's either. Kathy was rude and immature, putting all the responsibility on us. It was a terrible business experience, and I don't think she understands what running a business involves.

The beachfront location is the only good thing about this accommodation, and for me it wasn't worth it. The room was far from hygienic, there was no staff to greet or help guests, and the owner was extremely rude and unhelpful, with no apparent interest in fixing problems. The hotel's Wi-Fi doesn't work. Be aware that the owner tries to set up private deals outside Booking.com, which leaves you without a way to file a claim if something goes wrong. They also hide behind the no-refund cancellation policy to excuse terrible service. If you want a stressful trip and poor treatment, this is the place. Otherwise, avoid it.

We came across Casa Acalli and Ray, who was so friendly and accommodating. We spent one night in one of his bungalows and loved it. The room was very clean, with great amenities: good Wi-Fi, a great bathroom, a fridge, a mosquito net, and a really comfy bed. It's right on the beach in a perfect spot, with sunset chairs ready to use and a bar next door. Ray also cooked an amazing breakfast fresh. They're renovating and building new rooms now, and I'm sure they'll be beautiful. Thanks for being so kind, Ray. We highly recommend staying here!

The bungalow is simple inside but tastefully done, and it had what we needed: a comfy bed, big towels, a fan for when it got too hot, and a fridge for cold drinks. The shower has a low water flow, though that's the reality of Zipolite. I loved the palm leaf ceiling, and the place really feels like an exotic getaway. They changed the sheets and tidied the bungalow during our stay, which was a nice surprise. We were in a quieter stretch of beach, good if you want to sleep earlier. Restaurants and hip beach bars are still only a five-minute walk away. Down from casa acalli there's a laid-back café serving breakfast, drinks, and food during the day. It's quiet and doesn't disturb your peace. I feel lucky to have found this on my first visit to zipolite. Waking up to the ocean and exotic birds making all kinds of cool sounds outside is hard to describe. The view is gold, and I could see whales from my bed. We had the most amazing week and are looking forward to coming back next year!

We spent a lovely, leisurely few hours having breakfast at Cafe Maya. We had two dishes each, plus cappuccino, juice, and coffee. There was a ham and Oaxacan cheese crepe and an omelette with the same, as well as French stuffed toast and a complete breakfast with fruit and eggs. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. You need to be relaxed and not in a hurry, since the kind lady makes everything herself. We have big appetites and were happy to use the umbrellas and chairs for pretty much half the day. The place has a very loving vibe. 10/10.
