AST Hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful, and they even let me keep my bicycle in their small store. There’s ample parking, the price is reasonable, and water dispensers are available for refills. The location is convenient, close to the highway and lots of eateries within walking distance. There’s also a pretty good dim sum restaurant next door. I’ve stayed at this lovely hotel three times in two weeks. The rooms are well maintained and still look new, even though staff told me it’s around 9 years old. My rooms had a hair dryer, kettle, tissues, light snacks, and water, and even the corridors were clean. I stayed on the ground floor twice, then got a first-floor room on my third stay because no single rooms were available downstairs. They’re strict about smoking, so the rooms never smelled of cigarette smoke. Light sleepers may find the ground floor noisy because the walls are thin, and you can hear doors opening and alarms going off. It was much better upstairs. Bring your own toiletries if you don’t like using one liquid soap for everything. There are several hotels around here, so I guess they serve a lot of traveling salesmen and drivers. I’d recommend it if you need somewhere to stop in Alor Star along your journey.
