JP Hotel Jalan Stadium

We hadn't booked a hotel for the trip. On the second day of CNY, we spotted this one while heading to a nearby Thai restaurant and were lucky to get a room for two nights. The staff greeted us with a good smile. Our triple room had one double bed and one single bed for RM165 a night, which felt reasonable. It was a decent size, with good shower pressure. A small TV with no sound was provided, though we didn't really need it. The room also had mini mineral water, towels, hand soap and toilet paper. There are restaurants, a cafe and a mini market nearby, and it's a five-minute drive to the city center. We were satisfied overall, though the busy road made it a bit noisy and the soundproofing wasn't good.

The short stay was acceptable, and I paid a reasonable price for a strategic location. There's a water dispenser too. The floor wasn't quite as clean as it could be, and some basic facilities felt a little old.

I stayed in room 101 from 13-16 May 2023. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, and more cafes a short 5-10 minute drive away. Aman Central mall is about five minutes away by car. Street parking was ample, and each floor had a water dispenser and ironing facilities. The little pantry with tables, chairs, cups, plates and 3-in-1 drinks was useful too. The bathroom had no curtain to keep shower water away from the toilet, so the whole floor got wet. There was cigarette ash in the drawer, and even though my room was non-smoking, I could smell smoke. It may have been left by an earlier guest or come through the vent or bathroom exhaust from someone smoking elsewhere. Smoke detectors in the rooms might discourage that. The bathroom lights were too dim, especially by the basin. Its shelf was faulty and could use maintenance. The TV signal was unstable, and the aircon cooled slowly, perhaps because it needed servicing or coolant. Otherwise, the room was quiet at night even though the hotel faces a main road, and there wasn't loud talking or laughter late on. The bed was comfortable for me. Wifi wasn't strong but worked, the shower and basin had good water pressure, and there was no sewage smell in the bathroom. I was very pleased with the stay and would recommend it.

Free parking was convenient, but the wifi was unusable during peak hours, and there was no hair dryer in the room. I stayed three days and two nights. The room hadn't been cleaned properly: the cupboard and lamp were dusty, and there was fungus on the toilet door and wall. The blanket had yellow stains. When I asked for a fresh one, staff refused, saying the laundry couldn't remove the stains.
