Lavana by Palanquinn

We stayed for seven days and thought it was pretty good for the price. Every room has its own bathroom, a TV, and a mini refrigerator, and there’s also a shared kitchen. The location was our favourite part, in a peaceful area right behind Pulau Tikus Hawker Center, one of the best food streets in Penang. Cozy and comfortable, with good service and a lovely host.

The house and street have a lovely look, and there’s a common area with a small kitchen for making hot drinks. It’s affordable, clean, and in a good spot, near Gurney plaza and a bus stop for Georgetown. A very nice place.

Getting there was straightforward: the entry code arrived through WhatsApp before we arrived, and all the information we needed was in the room. The initial information was professional and useful, and the place was well managed. Our room was clean, tidy, and well kept, and the price felt very fair. The location worked perfectly for us. The Thai Buddhist temple and the bus stop for no. 101 are just around the corner. That bus goes into town and to or from the jetty if you’re coming from Butterworth. Hawkers Corner is about a 10-minute walk along Gurney Drive, past Paragon and Gurney Plaza malls. One of the best B&Bs I’ve stayed at, and I’ve stayed in quite a few. Highly recommended. The floor tiles are gorgeous, and the whole place has real character. It’s a charming house built in 1926, with a room at a reasonable price and all the essentials, even a toothbrush. If you like quirky places with atmosphere, this could be for you. There’s a small shared kitchen area with free coffee or tea. Be prepared for some noise from guests upstairs, and it’s a bit far from the city center. I also published this review on Airbnb.
