Eastville Residence

I needed somewhere for an overnight stop at short notice while traveling from out of town. The room was about what you'd expect from a three-star place, and the bed and comforter were fine. The wood-look floor felt slippery, though, and the pillow was pretty sad. Decent comfort for the budget, but the quality of some items could be better.

We liked the building, family room, smoking lounge, price, and the location near the main town, where there are plenty of places to eat. The stay itself was a huge disappointment because our second-floor family room had no water at all due to a pump problem. We paid RM10 for early check-in at 12:30 pm and reported the problem as soon as we arrived. After two more calls, we were told the pressure was low and nothing could be done. We went out for an event and got back at 1 am, but still had no water. When we called again, reception said to wait until morning. We were told the issue had been going on for 3-4 days. We had to shower in the lobby toilet. The next morning there was still no water. Only after we complained again did they give us another room, and then only to shower in on the day we checked out. We also heard that moving to another room would cost a different rate, even though this was the hotel's problem. Why weren't guests who booked two days earlier told about the pump issue, or moved to another room without an extra charge? We also saw another review mentioning the same problem from last year. Why wasn't a room offered when we first called, instead of asking us to wait while they checked the pump? Apologies don't solve a problem like this, action does. And saying they don't usually have families staying there isn't a responsible answer. You can't know who'll come through the door, it's a business.

A cleaner suddenly came into my locked room without knocking. That was one of the worst parts of the stay, and the place needs a service overhaul before I'd consider coming back for a long stay. There was a broken kettle, no tissues, no small towels or floor mat, and no phone directory or do-not-disturb / make-up-room sign. The room wasn't cleaned during a stay of more than one night. The towel smelled rotten, the prayer mat was musty, and a coffee glass had a stain that looked like lipstick or blood. Management needs to improve the service.

The front desk guy was super friendly and pointed me to Teluk Cempedak, which turned out to be a good spot. The hotel itself was very clean and in a nice location. There's a stall beside it and Puteh bar across the road. It cost RM 100, and the hotel is relatively new, around 4-5 years old.
