Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas

We especially enjoyed the breakfast on our last day. There was a great spread and lots to choose from, so it was a shame we'd slept through breakfast most of the other days in the villa's very comfortable bed. We'd booked a garden deluxe room, then decided a higher floor suited us better and upgraded. The change was worth it. Mr Dani, our concierge, took care of our trip arrangements and even drove us to the night market, which we loved. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and the resort's surroundings and thoughtful details were beautifully done. Dining options were varied, and service impressed us from arrival. It's a comfortable two-hour drive away, and Desaru Fruit Farm is only 20 minutes from the resort and a lovely visit. We're glad Anantara Desaru is close enough to home that we're already planning another stay.

Even as the resort got busier, the staff kept the service at a high level. From the moment we arrived, everyone made a real effort to help us feel welcome, and check-in was smooth. Special thanks to Annuar, Shavin, Afiq, Fitri, Firdaus, S. Reza, Aref, Mehide and Malathy for looking after us so attentively. My wife and I had a memorable trip.

The meal was delicious, especially the tender, flavorful Rendang Daging. The sliced grilled lamb was cooked just right, and the fragrant Nasi Briyani went beautifully with it. We had a relaxing evening in the restaurant's cozy setting. Thanks to Shabber, Tracee, Cici, and the Chef for making us feel so welcome. Water dripped from the air conditioner ceiling vent onto my side of the table throughout the meal. It was a minor maintenance problem and didn't spoil the evening, but it should be addressed.

We went for an anniversary honeymoon and the service was great. They arranged decorations as requested. They also brought a complimentary chocolate cake, even though I'd noted that I don't eat chocolate. Since it was free, I don't feel I can complain, but it did seem they hadn't taken the note seriously. There wasn't much to do at the resort, particularly at night, and the pool closed at 7 pm. For a five-star resort, I'd expect several activities in the daytime and evening. There was much less to do here than at five-star resorts in Singapore.
