Four Points By Sheraton Desaru

The room was spacious enough for our family of 3, clean, and had a great view. The hotel itself was clean too, including the lobby, and the pool was clean and a decent size, with a few kids using the baby pool. It’s good value, quiet, and surrounded by open green areas, though a few minutes’ drive from the beach in a somewhat isolated spot. There was a weird smell in the outdoor areas, but our room was clean and had no foul smell. Breakfast was okay, with local, Western, and Indian options, though not great, and there weren’t many vegetarian choices for us to try much. Service and hospitality were good. A decent place for 1-2 nights in Desaru.

The Lemang and Ketupat were kept steaming through service, so they stayed hot and soft, and the chilled prawns and mussels were lovely and fresh. Four Points Desaru put on a fantastic Buka Puasa buffet last night, with an impressive spread and a live grilling station. The whole lamb was a standout, tender and flavorful, and there was a good range of grilled meats. I also enjoyed seeing Johor favorites like Kacang Pol and Otak-otak done right. Great work by Haslinda, Samila, Visha, Kimi, Akmal, and Najwa.

The staff were friendly and helpful, check-out was quick, and I was given an extra blanket for free when I asked. I stayed two nights while attending a tournament at SSTMI nearby. The location is convenient, with marts, restaurants, coffee shops, 24-hour grocery stores, and a supermarket close by. The hotel offers good value, comfortable rooms, and a very nice pool. I didn’t try breakfast because I booked a room without it. Parking is available for a nightly fee, and you can enter and exit freely. I’d definitely return and highly recommend it.

The surrounding area has plenty of restaurants and fast food, plus laundromats, clinics, a supermarket, and a nearby Maybank branch. There’s ample parking, and if you park by the swimming pool you can reach the lift without walking through the lobby. Parking is free for guests, but remember to validate your vehicle before heading out. I stayed two nights and was really satisfied with the room and service. The room service menu was affordable too, so I’d highly recommend it. The queen bed was comfortable and the room spacious, with two couches and a round table for eating or working. There was a TV, iron, and ironing board. You can unlock the sliding balcony door to relax on the veranda, and the WiFi connection was excellent with no downtime during my stay.
