Hotel O Senja Hostel Chinatown

The location is great, and it’s fun to walk around the area, but women may feel uneasy staying here. The rooms are tiny and not soundproof, so you hear voices throughout the day. There aren’t many showers or toilets for the number of rooms, and they’re shared by men and women, which didn’t feel comfortable. Of the three shower rooms, one had no hot water and very weak pressure. Another had hot water, but the pressure was still weak. It seemed to get cleaned once a day, though it didn’t feel very clean, and toilet paper wasn’t replenished in time.

We had to change rooms twice, and I really disliked the place. The first room’s air conditioning leaked buckets of water. Later that evening it stopped working, so we ended up sleeping in a tiny room in 30 degree weather. There was also a window looking into the cleaning supply closet, which felt really uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The place is run by people who seem focused on profit and don’t really care about service. The staff are untrained and uninterested, and the night staff bring friends over to chat late when people are supposed to be sleeping. Service is far below average, and management and staff don’t seem to understand customer service. The rooms are cramped, squeezed into small spaces and divided by thin walls. They’re musty and smelly, with no ventilation. I wonder if the linen is even washed. It seemed like they’d just sprayed fragrance over it to cover the smell. The heater in the shared bathroom never works, and the toilet smells and lacks maintenance. Not recommended. I’ll never come again.

I liked the location most, and the check-in staff were very courteous. One of them helped my mother carry up her luggage without asking for a tip. The room was small, but adequate for the two of us. It was just far from the shared bathroom, which was troublesome for both of us.
