OYO 89585 Hotel Happy Inn

There’s plenty of parking under the trees, and the location is good. The hotel itself is very basic, though: the towels were poor, there were no toothbrushes, the TV didn’t work, and the water pressure was very low.

I got there around 1:30 am after a long drive. My brother had contacted me to stop by Johan Setia because my grandmother had passed away there. I messaged OYO through Booking.com, but it seems I was too late. After I called the number, OYO HQ told me my booking had been cancelled. Maybe I’ll update this review if I get another chance to stay here. 😊

I’d already paid RM87 for a room, but Booking.com and OYO weren’t showing the same availability, and the OYO app hadn’t updated either. I kept booking OYO hotels in Banting one after another because they were full. In the end, staff at the OYO Hotel Happy Inn I’d booked found me a room at OYO Hotel Foong Inn, since they had the same owner. I still had to pay another RM13 because I was a walk-in. The room was dusty, with cobwebs in some corners, and my husband and I barely slept. I’d looked at the reviews for OYO Hotel Foong Inn before booking and unfortunately got the bad experience they described. Maybe they weren’t cleaning the rooms and hall because of the MCO. I think they could do better to give guests a decent check-in experience.

If you’re staying in Banting for a long work trip, this is worth it. You get the basics: a bed, air conditioning, and a water heater. Bring your own hair dryer, iron, and electric kettle.
