Bayview Beach Resort Penang

The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice, with fresh food, and the hotel's grounds and pool were well looked after. We had a comfortable room with a balcony, a spacious bathroom, a shower, separate toilet, and bathtub. Everyone we dealt with was attentive and friendly, from the concierge and reception team to breakfast and housekeeping. We'd be glad to come back.

The room was spacious, and the balcony view was amazing. We enjoyed the mountain scenery, the easy access to the beach, and the quiet, romantic feel. Bayview Beach Resort made a lovely little escape from the city chaos, and it felt like good value for money in Penang.

The buffet breakfast was great, and the a la carte meals we had poolside and in the restaurant were both tasty and very generous. There's a deep end in the pool at 4m, and the large lawn has deckchairs, though you might want to bring a picnic mat if they run out. Water coolers are dotted around, so pack a bottle. The gym isn't air-conditioned and looks quite worn, but it worked for my treadmill and weights in the breeze. We were there for 5D4N over New Year's with family in a family suite. Our partial sea view suite wasn't available, so they moved us to a sea view suite. Funny thing was, the master bedroom looked onto the hill, while the kids' room faced the pool and sea. The rooms were spacious and clean, though the age of the place shows. The water, air-con, and lights all worked, and we were comfortable. It's at one end of the beach strip, but easy to walk to food spots, massages, and shops. When our daughter sprained her foot on Day 3, they lent her a wheelchair to use around the hotel. A very relaxing stay.

We could walk to the beach and nearby restaurants, and the pasar malam was reachable too, though it may be a long walk with kids. The receptionist greeted us warmly and upgraded our junior suite from a partial sea view to a direct pool view. The room was spacious, with an accessible entrance that a wheelchair could get through. The advertised queen and two singles turned out to be an extra-large bed that fit two adults and two kids comfortably, or three adults, plus an adjoining room with two single beds and its own TV. No other room problems, but the toilet hose kept twisting and water pressure was sometimes low. I also think the hose knob would be more sanitary on the right, since we wash with our left hand and then have to turn the knob off with that same hand. Breakfast was pretty basic and nearly the same both mornings: nasi lemak, roti canai or jala on rotation, fried mee, bread, baked beans, sausage, scrambled eggs, and a salad counter with lettuce and cherry tomatoes.
