We chose Sunstar hotel for our last night because we were staying in Teluk Bahang and had an early flight from Penang. It seemed worth staying closer to the airport so we could sleep in a little, and the price was low. The room itself was clean and had air conditioning, but we ended up right behind reception. A curtain was all that separated our room from the reception area, so we could hear everything, including people passing by, loud conversations, doors slamming, and even people talking in the room next door. The motorcycle noise was loud too. Just when I finally got to sleep, garbage trucks came by at 3:30 and were loud enough to wake anyone. I gave up trying to sleep after that and got maybe an hour and a half altogether. We should have stayed in Teluk Bahang. Sunstar hotel is close to the airport, which makes it handy, but I wouldn't stay there if I needed to actually sleep.

The room was comfortable and check-in was easy. I got a good discounted rate through Agoda, and the shower worked fine. Parking is limited, though, and noise is an issue. You can hear people outside and at the counter.

The location worked well for us, with shops and restaurants nearby, and the shower had reliable hot water. We could watch Netflix and YouTube on the TV, and there was a hot and cold water dispenser for guests. Our ground floor room had air conditioning and opened straight onto a covered patio with tables and chairs, about three metres from the door. Everything was very clean, and the reception staff and other personnel were incredibly helpful. This was the best value of our whole trip by far. Highly recommended!

It's a budget option if you need a room close to the airport, and the owner is friendly. I wouldn't expect much beyond the basics: the clean room had towels, one toilet roll, two bars of soap, a TV, and two ceiling fans. The air conditioning wasn't cold. The heater got hot and the water pressure was good. Wi-Fi worked well on the second floor. It's a house, so there's no parking lot, just roadside parking. Laundry with drying is available at a reasonable price.
