The Gem Hotel Beaufort

Getting to local attractions can be difficult without a car or dependable Grab or taxi service, though the hotel is well located for food. We stayed in a twin room for the first time, and the room, beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The service was impeccable from check-in through check-out. Many thanks to the friendly, helpful staff, especially Azrul and Denis, who made the stay memorable.

The hotel is about a five-minute drive from Beaufort Railway Station. If you don't know the town, you can get a private cab at the station for RM10 per cab. We booked by phone and paid when we checked in. The staff were friendly, and our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast isn't included, but you can relax at the Rooftop restaurant and bar. There are also places to eat just outside the hotel. We'd recommend Satay Lembah Brunei, right opposite Servay Express.

The beds were comfortable, there were two extra pillows, and we had no water problems. For RM157 a night, our double single room came with a toilet and shower, hairdryer, toiletries and towels, though there was only one roll of tissue. WiFi worked decently. The air conditioning needed to be turned off and on to cool the room. There's a RM50 check-in deposit, and when the parking is full you can park behind the hotel. Reception service was good. There was some noise from nearby shops at 9pm, and cigarette smell came from the next room at 2am 😭.

The staff were friendly and even gave us a discount. The elevator worked, the air conditioning was good enough that I was freezing, and there was a hot shower.
