The trip here was the one part I didn't enjoy: the road is rocky and unpaved. Once there, though, I was blown away. Kayaking through the bakau forest took us across one of the most beautiful natural landscapes I've seen, with an incredible rainforest and birdsong all around. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. I can't believe Malaysia has a place like this, especially in Sungai Petani. I arrived with no expectations and came away amazed.

We caught three crabs in the traps we set, and my kids loved the kayaking and crab-catching session. They didn't want to leave the mangrove! We went in with low expectations because there wasn't much information available, but the program got better and better as it went along. I highly recommend it. The boss should share more information online and elsewhere so more people will be interested.

This is a good place for an adventurous family, and I'd recommend it. The mangrove kayaking was phenomenal and especially memorable for us as first-timers. Staff were very friendly, always around and doing their best to help. The accommodation isn't as comfortable as a hotel, and comfort isn't really why you'd come. The toilet is shared and there's no air conditioning, though during our stay it was airy and comfortable. The buildings are made from recycled wood. They're not eye candy, but if you appreciate the place for what it is, the idea has been put to work wonderfully. I give it five stars for its simplicity and the minimal impact on the environment.

The kayaking was amazing. Take mosquito repellent, since there are lots of mosquitoes, especially around the mangroves.

The river, mangroves, oysters and fish, along with the very nice people, all made for an unforgettable nature experience. The buildings are beautiful, and the sunrise is awesome. You can fish, kayak, learn and do other activities here. I've spent a lot of time on this project, and we need more projects like it. It brings together education, environmental protection and awareness, cultural sharing, and support for local culture. They worked hard to make it happen, and I hope they can keep going this way. It's an awesome project to support. Five stars, without hesitation.
