Gibbon Retreat Bentong

The River View Villa had plenty of space for our family of seven adults and three pets, and we enjoyed our one-night stay on 29/5. During the day, especially from 10am to 6pm, it was quite hot because the air conditioning didn’t seem powerful enough to cool the villa. From around 7pm it became much more comfortable. It’s a lovely place for a relaxing retreat, and we’d happily return. We hope they improve the air conditioning and add more activities for guests who want to stay on the property. The yellow property's dog even got to try some Wagyu beef during our stay. I think he enjoyed it. 😂🐶

It’s only an hour from KL, so it worked well for a weekend recharge without a long drive. We’d been looking for a private forest getaway that was child-friendly, and this met our expectations. I went with my husband and our 2-year-old toddler. We brought our own ingredients and cooked, paid extra to bring our own tent, and had lots of fun near the waterfall. Our daughter loved the tent and hammock we set up. The afternoons were cool and peaceful, with nature sounds all around. Each chalet has its own view, and we stayed at the Rock Pool Chalet near the waterfall. It can feel damp and a little musty because of the rainforest setting, but if you like nature and privacy, it’s a wonderful forest-bathing break, even with toddlers.

A quiet break from the city with the furkids, and the forest and water sounds were so calming even though the river at the River View Chalet was tiny. Ah Ming and Jason, the caretakers, gave excellent service. They were quick and detailed with information even when I first enquired over whatsapp. I only wish the river were bigger, so both the furkids and people could jump in. That would make this place perfect. I’d definitely recommend it for a peaceful getaway.

Jason was friendly and helpful, and we really liked that the retreat welcomes pets. The place itself is clean, cozy, and quiet, so it worked well for family time and cooking our own meals. There isn't much to do nearby, though, and it would be nicer with a few facilities to keep guests from getting bored. At night there were lots of insects, and we got rashes from bites. We couldn't tell if they came from the bedding or the surrounding jungle. The drive in has sharp bends and steep sections, so take care. A peaceful spot if you're after a simple break.
