I didn’t know a hotel reception could be left without any staff. Don’t arrive too late, because there may be nobody there at all.

I had problems with the dates I entered and tried calling hotel management to change them, but nobody answered. I also got no reply through the booking app chat or WhatsApp, where my message only showed two grey ticks. I eventually tried cancelling the booking, but couldn’t do that either. I lost my money and received no refund at all. Think twice before gambling your money on this hotel. Pen U Dokrok Hotel.

The staff were friendly, which was the only positive thing I can say about the hotel. The location is handy if you want shops and food nearby, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re after a nice view or somewhere close to the sea. My room had no window, was mouldy, and smelled of cigarettes. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep.

Our host was so welcoming and shared useful tips for getting around and choosing local food. We were there for just two days, but the host’s personal, friendly manner made the stay really memorable. Thanks, Yong! The room was very neat, facilities were up to standard, and the water pressure and temperature were good. My only small complaint is that the sinks smelled a little.
