The little daily treat in the fridge was a lovely surprise, and breakfast was included in our package too. Our room, 'Blossom', worked fine for two, though I’d book a bigger one if you’re bringing a lot of luggage. The beds were plush and the room was comfortable, and the place is so convenient. From the warm welcome when we arrived to the kind goodbye, the staff were friendly and attentive the whole time. I can’t think of anywhere better to stay in Georgetown.

The room upstairs was very small, but fine for sleeping and freshening up. The aircon worked, which you need in Penang, and the bathroom and firm bed were clean. We did spot ants when we left snack crumbs in the trash, so take rubbish out quickly. What made the stay was the owner and her mother, who made us feel at home and greeted us whenever we came or went. They brought anything we asked for, including towels, cleaning, or toilet paper. A really welcoming stay at Campbell Antique. I’d happily come back 😁💜

It’s a good fit for solo travellers or two people, and the owner is very hospitable. The place is clean and relatively inexpensive, though quite small, with steep stairs. Towels and basic toiletries like soap and shampoo are there, but bring your own toothbrush kit and razor. Plenty of eateries and pubs are nearby, yet far enough away that nights stay quiet and peaceful. Wi-Fi is okay for uploading photos, but not smooth enough for longer videos.

The main things to plan for are the 11 pm door lock and the narrow stairs, which can make getting luggage upstairs awkward. Our hostess helped us with it, though, and was lovely, fun, and very accommodating. The pre-war building is beautifully kept, and we had a lovely stay.

If you’re after good food and atmosphere nearby, this family-run little hotel in the Chinatown neighbourhood is a great base. It’s a refreshing option among the glitzy mainstream hotels. The owner is a cheerful presence and always seems ready to brighten your day. One of the best places I’ve stayed.
