Courtyard by Marriott Penang

The team, from concierge and reception to housekeeping, were attentive and welcoming. Haikal greeted us warmly at check-in, making a lovely first impression. We paid the quoted price for a room upgrade and had no regrets. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, had a pleasant city view, and included all the essentials. Parking was plentiful and free. The hotel is central, so getting around Georgetown was easy. We used Grab for most meals and coffee, which let us skip driving and queues. Next door, a 24-hour self-service laundry was very convenient. The pool is simple but clean and well kept, and the gym and sauna were in good condition. The buffet breakfast has a modest spread, but the food is good quality and tasty. This is now my preferred option for short Penang city breaks, or JJCM. It’s a practical, comfortable alternative to Batu Ferringhi, without the beachside setting or traffic, and we had a very pleasant stay.

My team held an event at Courtyard and we were well looked after the whole time. Chef Loon, Barathi, Azril, and everyone else accommodated us, and their flexible, quick problem-solving and cooperation helped make the event a success. The service was top-tier and the food they provided was delicious. We’d definitely keep Courtyard in mind for future events.

The room was spotless, the sheets were clean, and housekeeping responded quickly whenever I asked for fresh items. The hotel felt comfortable and well cared for. I did notice noise, though: even on the 14th floor, sounds from outside came through, and the pool's water filter made a steady, fairly loud noise that spoiled some of the calm. The pool itself is lovely. I’m still giving five stars because the service, cleanliness, and stay as a whole were strong, but I hope they can bring the noise down.

Mohammed Amin, the bellboy, really made our stay at Courtyard by Marriott Penang memorable. He was warm, polite, and attentive, and often stepped in to help before we even asked. His care for guests went well beyond what he had to do, and the hotel is lucky to have him on the team. The stay itself was smooth from check-in through check-out. The rooms were comfortable, and everything was modern, clean, and well maintained. It had the professional feel you’d expect from Marriott. I’d happily come back, and highly recommend the hotel.
