The extra charge was another problem: HostelWorld bookings have a 10MYR tax per person per night that isn’t mentioned anywhere. When I asked staff about it, they said, “It’s everywhere the same in Malaysia,” which definitely isn’t true. The bed bugs were the worst part of my stay. I found them in the room, and the sheets had stains that looked like signs of an earlier infestation. Staff didn’t seem very concerned. Their first suggestion was to spray the beds with chemicals, and only after that did they move me to another room. They kept insisting the bugs weren’t their fault and blamed the guests. If this keeps happening, they should consider whether their treatment is working. I wouldn’t recommend booking here unless you’re okay with bedbugs and staff who don’t care about you 🙂

The dorms are cramped, and the sheets looked worn and dirty. The old bathroom and showers weren't clean either, and there are no lockers to secure your things. It was also hard to find the place because the signs weren't clear. With the bed bug problem others have mentioned, I wouldn't recommend staying here, especially for women travelling alone.

Shahid, who was working the evening reception, was such a kind guy, and the service was the best I've had in six months of travelling. The breakfast was basic but really good. My room was comfortable, though a little cramped, almost as if an extra bed had been put in. I'd still highly recommend the place.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were super friendly. They also provide a basic breakfast with coffee and tea.
