Palm Mansion Boutique Suites

The WiFi was terrible, so make sure you have a SIM connection. Apart from that, I recommend this spacious, comfortable suite in the old town, in Little India and not far from the seaside. It was very clean, with a great bed and A/C, and the old town architecture gives it a nice atmosphere. For check-in, you call to get the code for the key box. That went smoothly, even though we arrived very late in the evening.

I liked this hotel enough to extend my stay. The staff are kind, and the location is great. The rooms are beautiful, in an old restored home with Chinese style. There’s no mini fridge in the room, but there is a shared fridge in the common area, and no one seemed bothered by people using it. I recommend staying here.

This place has loads of character and feels much more boutique than a typical chain hotel. It’s in a great spot for exploring George Town, the rooms were clean, and the A/C worked well. We stayed five days and would come back. The downsides: there’s no kettle in the room, though each room has a flask and there’s a hot water dispenser downstairs. It seemed like just one person was managing the place, and they were there day and night the whole time. Housekeeping was confusing. We didn’t think they offered it until they offered to clean on our last night, just before checkout. Check-in was a bit worrying too, since staff spent around 10-15 minutes calling someone. We wondered if our booking had gone missing or they were overbooked, but it all worked out, so don’t panic if that happens.

We stayed here and enjoyed it, but I needed to cancel a second booking that had been made by mistake. I tried contacting the hotel several times and got no reply, so I had to pay the full price.
