The location is the one good thing here. The online photos make the place look cute, but what we got was very different: an outdated hotel with few amenities. There was no lift or anyone to help bring our luggage upstairs, and the stairs were steep and felt dangerous. Our room was tiny, with mould and stains all over the walls. The sheets and towels were stained too, which was completely unacceptable, and the stiff mattress was uncomfortable. There was no fridge, just one glass bottle of water and cups, with no filter. The TV was old and had very little to watch. Thin walls meant we could hear other guests talking and noises from outside all night. The bathroom smelled terrible even when nobody had used it, maybe because of shared pipes or something. When we told the front desk about these problems, they showed no remorse and made no effort to fix anything. We asked for a refund, but the hotel rejected it despite the awful stay and ridiculous price. You can find somewhere else nearby for a similar price that’s much better. This was extremely disappointing and frustrating, and I would not recommend staying here.

We spent hours circling for parking, from 3pm until almost 7pm, and still couldn't find a space. There were only 3 spots for 11 rooms. When we called customer service, she giggled and told us we'd have to find and pay for parking ourselves. We'd already paid in advance, and she said that meant we couldn't get a refund. After we complained, they eventually gave us a spot, but it wasn't a good one. The whole thing left us feeling like our money had gone to waste. My dad said the place looked like a "rumah merah." There was more I could say, but I'll leave it there. I'd go back to Royale Chulan or another hotel instead. At least I didn't get to review the room.

Right in the middle of the old town, this is a cozy place with a nostalgic feel and a distinctive experience. The WhatsApp number may not connect, so get in touch before you arrive.

I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you can handle a whole night without sleep. Heavy machinery was working downstairs by our room in the middle of the night, and the excavator was loud enough to hear clearly as it dug for hours. It really affected my sleep and left me frustrated with the government's arrangements.
