Very Hotel

Ms Devi and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful from check-in through checkout. The place felt cozy but stylish, and the price was good. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed with modern touches. Very Hotel Penang is right in the heart of Georgetown, near the main attractions, local food spots, and street art areas. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it for either a short getaway or a longer trip. I’ll stay here again on my next visit!

The second room, 316, had a sink leaking underneath and low water pressure. Wi-Fi was too slow across level 3, so we used our own data. In the first room, 304, the power kept cutting out, and I had to restart the fuse box every 10 minutes. I asked to move, but was told every room was full. The next day, the counter guy admitted 304 had electrical problems, so why give me that room? I slept without electricity that night. The toilets only have curtains, and everything looked old and dirty compared with the pictures. The young man at the counter was often missing, and when I called, he sounded like he was napping. This is a low-budget place charging too much. Please stay somewhere else that’s worth the money.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the location made it easy to get to food, transport, and attractions. Reception made everything smooth and pleasant: they greeted me quickly, helped with each request, and clearly explained the hotel and surrounding area. I enjoyed my stay and would come back. Five stars.

Room 315 had no towels or basic amenities, which I only noticed late at night when there was nobody available to help. Around 1 a.m., heavy rain came through the closed window and flooded part of the room, soaking the floor and some of my belongings and clothes. This was more than a minor leak, and the room felt poorly maintained and unsafe. The trouble started at check-in on 2 January, around 1 a.m., when I was assigned Room 208 and found its air-conditioning wasn’t working. No staff were available overnight, so I had to sleep in the heat. I reported it the next day, but when I returned around 9 p.m., it still wasn’t fixed. They moved me to Room 315, which was worse. The next morning, I stepped out briefly and got locked out after leaving the keys inside because the Room 315 key card wasn’t working. The receptionist didn’t have a spare key ready. Staff tried several keys one by one and took almost an hour to open the door. I was rushing to check out, and the delay was very stressful. I was the guest in the room, though the booking was under someone else’s name. This experience showed a serious lack of resources, poor management, and no proper emergency procedure. In a real emergency, it could have been dangerous. The service was extremely poor, the room conditions unacceptable, and the hotel clearly wasn’t prepared to handle basic maintenance or guest safety. I wouldn’t recommend it. Choose somewhere else if you value safety, comfort, and basic service standards.
