Wifi Boutique Hotel

For the price, this is a good hotel, with a clean room, friendly staff, and free parking. Rooms are cheap, just don’t expect much space. We came during the CNY period. Parking is limited, but we managed to park fine, and there’s a guard there 24 hours, which felt very secure. The top floor has a bicycle museum, free for hotel guests. My boyfriend’s a bicycle fan and he really liked it!!!!!!

There are lots of attractions within walking distance, and parking is available, so it’s handy if you’re out exploring Penang during the day. The staff were helpful and accommodating, and the prices are reasonable. I compared rates and direct booking through WhatsApp is cheaper than any online travel sites. Just remember, if you need a hairdryer, borrow one from reception between 9 AM and 5 PM, because their storage closes afterward.

The room was clean and tidy, and a couple of guys on the evening shift were helpful with everything we needed. But the wifi was awful, and we couldn’t download a single video about the city’s attractions or watch anything on our devices at night. When we mentioned it, the guy who seemed to be the manager only said “sorry”. The view was the most unpleasant I’ve ever seen, a vacant lot full of garbage, rats, and roosters that started crowing at 7:00 AM. On our first night, at 5:00 AM, the room phone rang and someone told me my car was ready to leave, though I had no idea what he meant. The next morning I asked the woman at the counter about the call. She didn’t apologize, barely spoke English, and didn’t seem interested in her job. We stayed three nights. I’m convinced there are much more reasonable places to spend a night in this city.

The service and location were good, the rooms had everything they needed, and I found the bicycle museum upstairs interesting. But the wifi was terrible. Online meetings kept dropping out, and the shower pressure was low, which made it unsatisfying. The hotel name aside, wifi service is poor.
